Chapter 17

Emmy

I wake up the next morning surrounded by hot muscled bodies and I have to say it’s by far my favorite way to wake up. I’m sort of diagonally draped across the three of them. My head on Vulc’s chest, my torso on Ares and my leg wrapped around Hades’ hip. All three of them have at least one hand on me. Vulc’s tangled in my hair, Ares on my back and hip, and Hades has my knee gripped between strong fingers.

Yeah, definitely the best way to wake up.

Not a bad way to fall asleep, either. If I’m being honest.

But the longer I lay there, the hotter I get until I just have to wiggle off of them. All of them tighten their grips just briefly before I’m able to slip away. After a quick wash in the shower, I put on comfy clothes and head to the kitchen to make coffee and breakfast for my men.

I pull up short in the hall, finding Cerberus lingering. I squat down and rub his ears while his tail thumps and he gives me a few too many kisses on my face.

“Come on, you sweet boy,” I whisper. “I’ll let you out and get you some breakfast. You can keep me company while I make breakfast for your daddies.”

Maybe I’ll even bring it to them in bed and then we can all get naked and…

There is already someone in the kitchen.

It’s not a cook.

It’s not Mills.

No, it’s Harley.

How could I have forgotten that she’s here? A glance at the clock on the oven tells me its early-ish, and it’s clear that Harley has been up for a while, because she looks perfect. Hair blow dried, makeup on, dressed in real life actual clothes, and not a pair of Hades’ boxers and the t-shirt Vulc was wearing yesterday.

Her red lips curl into a smile when she sees me, bare legs and Vulc’s t-shirt, hair unwashed and piled in a bun on the top of my head, damp strands from my shower clinging to my neck. Yeah, I know I look like a hot mess.

She knows it, too.

I ignore her smug as fuck look and move to the French doors that lead to the backyard to let Cerberus out. He looks up at me like he’s not sure he wants to leave me alone with Harley, but at my urging, he bounds away from the house and, in seconds, I can’t see him.

I fill up his food and water bowls, so it’s ready when he comes back, and then head to the coffeepot. It’s already full.

Dammit. I can do this. I can do this. I can be polite to her.

“Good morning.” The greeting is grudging as hell, but I force it past my lips.

“Morning,” she says smugly as she flips something in the pan in front of her. A glance shows me she’s making an omelet. No, scratch that. Omelets. Multiple. I suspect none of them are for me. Likely just for herself and the guys.
